Meet the Edison Festival of Light Grand Marshal for 2024
The name Mike Gill is synonymous with the Grand Parade that honors Thomas Edison on the third Saturday night of February each year. Mike has been a teacher, coach, and mentor at Bishop Verot High School for over fifty years. For nearly that long he has chaired the Grand Parade Committee for the Festival, instilling the spirit of Non Excidet (the Bishop Verot motto meaning He shall not fail) in all things Edison. Mike and his wife Pat (a longtime teacher at St. Francis Xavier in Fort Myers) have two sons who were raised to be vital parts of the Edison Festival of Light. Zach is an attorney and a Lee County judge. Patrick is an internal medicine specialist in Orlando. Along with their wives Molly and Kathryn, they have blessed Mike and Pat with four beautiful grandchildren. When Mike decided to step down following the 2023 Festival and hand the reigns to the next generation, asking him to be our Grand Marshal this year was the easiest decision we’ve ever had to make. The Festival would like to thank Mike for his years of service to our event and to the entire Southwest Florida community as well. It’s been said that without Mike Gill, there is no Edison Festival of Light. We aren’t quite ready to learn if that is truly the case, so we are honored to welcome him as our 2024 Grand Marshal! 💡💡
To our loyal parade goers!
A quick note that the parade will go on rain or shine! Please come and bring your rain protection. We can not control the weather, but we are in constant contact with our local Meteorologist. Please plan to attend this festive event, but be prepared for the Florida elements. We have a great lineup for you, and it’s going to be a great parade.

Join us in hoping for an amazing, clear weather Parade.
