Grand Parade | Junior Events | Light Up the Town | Edison Day of Discovery | 5K | Stadium Show | Crafts on the River | Sanctioned Events Sanctioned Events Registered Non-Profit organizations residing in Southwest Florida have the opportunity to participate in the Edison Festival of Light as Sanctioned Events. Eligibility includes the following: 1) The Event must related to Thomas Alva Edison and his life of achievements and provide entertainment value to the Edison Festival of Light. The events must take place in January or February of 2008. 2) Descriptions should provide a review of goals and objectives of the organization and how the event relates to Mr. Edison's science, invention and entertainment works. 3) A fee of $500 is paid and a Certificate of Insurance is provided to the Edison Festival of Light with agreed to sanctioned events receiving the following benefits. · Listing in the Edison Festival of Light Program of Events · Listing in The 2008 The News-Press Insert · Listing on Edison Festival Website under Sanctioned Events Section - 900,000 visits in 2006-07 · Referrals to your event by telephone and written communication in public relations materials. · Confirmation that your event can use the following listing - "Official Sanctioned Event of the Edison Festival of Light, Inc" For further details on becoming a Festival Sanctioned Event please call the Festival at (239) 334-2999 prior to July 15, 2007. EDISON PAGEANT OF LIGHT EXHIBIT Location: Edison Ford Winter Estates Tel (239) 334-7418 Dates: February 1st - 28th - 9 am - 5:30 pm daily Cost - $12 non members includes Lab and Museum Ticket An Exhibit of photographs, regalia, memorabilia and videos of the annual Fort Myers celebration of Edison's friends & community in collaboration with the Edison Pageant of Light. EDISON ERA FAMILY FILM FESTIVAL Location: Edison Park Elementary Tel (239) 334-6232 Dates: February 2nd - 2 pm - 5 pm Cost - $5 adults, $1 children Join Edison Park Elementary, Edison College and the Edison and Ford Winter Estates in honoring Mr. Edison for laying the cornerstone of the school. Travel back to the 1920's with film, music performances, antiques, historical artifacts and human wax figures. STROLLLING FLOWER SHOW Location: Bell Tower Shops Tel (239) 489-1221 Date: February 7th and 8th - 10 am - 9 pm Free Admission Periwinkle Garden Club's 56th Strolling Flower Show is a competition presented in honor of Thomas Edison's interest in botanical science and will be judged by accredited judges. The event features floral arrangements by Lee County Garden Council Members in stores. MRS. Dolls of all descriptions including antiques, clothing, furniture, accessories and collectibles. ANTIQUE CAR SHOW Location: Edison Ford Winter Estates Tel (239) 334-7419 Dates: February 16th and 23rd - 9 am - 2 pm Cost - $5.00 Local V-8 Car Clubs and other classic car enthusiast will showcase their cars on the Estates. Nearly 100 cars will be on display and their owners will be on hand to visit with and answer questions.
