  1. I would like information about handicapped/wheelchair accessible parking. When will the streets be blocked off? Friends have a spot marked on Monroe across from the parking garage but I don’t know if we will be able to drive in there.

    1. Hi Sharon,

There is a designated handicap parking lot at the post office, however it fills up quickly during the early afternoon. Parking is regulated by the City of Fort Myers and Denison Parking. The Fort Myers Police Department is in charge of the road closures and they begin closing things down early to accommodate the 5K Race that takes place before the parade. We suggest you get to the downtown area prior to 3pm.

  2. Hi,

We are going to be first time 5kers this year! The registration packet pick up is from 3:00pm-5:30pm at Centennial Park. After that do you recommend parking in street? I was considering parking somewhere outside of the road closure area, but I haven’t quite figured it out. Will there be spots available? It’s my understanding that in street parking is free on weekends.

    1. Hi Derek,

Parking can be rather difficult the later you wait to get to the Downtown area. We recommend that you get here no later than 3pm–which is around when the Fort Myers Police Department begins the additional road closures to accommodate the race. However, if you are looking to park outside of the road closures, you may want to consider someplace on West First Street. Parking is regulated by the City of Fort Myers and Denison Parking–as well as the private business owners.

  3. In the past, I have watched the parade from the Fort Myers High School stadium. I am not seeing any information about this. Is this still a seating option?

    1. Hi Nancy,
No, you will not be able to watch the parade from the Fort Myers High Stadium. The stadium is now used as the staging area for the parade. We flipped the route around a few years ago in an effort to help the Downtown business owners generate business. We have a community stage in the boat ramp that features local dance groups and performers beginning at 11am on Saturday. Reserved seating is available through the sale of Street Seats and then VIP. You will want to purchase those in advance–we sold out of both last year!

    1. Hi Kathy,
No, the parade will not be televised live. As a non-profit it is just too costly for us to do that. However, we will have the parade airing on television in the coming months after our production company gets it edited down. We will have all of that information posted to the website as soon as we can.

    1. Great question, Angela!
The parade will air on local stations in about a month or so. We will post all of the viewing information here on our website and on our various social media networks to let you know when you can catch it.

  4. Where are the street seats located? Are they assigned seats or first come, first served? Where do participants in the street seats park?

    1. Hi Jeanne,

Street Seats are located along Edwards Drive. You will want to reach out to the different organizations listed under the Street Seats ticketing information to contact them for purchases. Each ticket is $10 and will reserve you one chair that will be labeled with your ticket number for your organization.
